About Me
Poornima Rao hails from Mysore-India, is a recipient of the CCRT Scholarship and a graded All India Radio and Doordarshan artist.
As a child she was introduced to Carnatic music by her mother Smt. Vijaya Subramhanyam. She received initial instruction in Veena by sister Smt Sangeetha Srinidhi and subsequently took advanced tutelage from renowned flute artist Vidwan AV Prakash.
She enjoys composing and organizing musical ensembles for groups such as Stage Sanchaar, Indian Raga Labs and other community events as an active musician.
She is a board member of Antarnada.org, a music organization focused on growth and encouragement of local talent. Poornima has taught Carnatic instrument Saraswathi Veena and vocals for over 20 years. By day, she is a Biotechnology professional and enjoys travel, food and cultural immersion.
